چکیده
Abstract Introduction Negative affect traits, such as neuroticism, have been shown to be associated with greater risk for insomnia. These trait-based factors are theorized increase stress reactivity, which can a predisposing factor Military personnel represent unique population that subject stressors nature of their occupations and may therefore particularly vulnerable the onset persistence The present study examined prospective associations among emotional reactivity exposure stressful experiences during combat deployment, insomnia symptoms at 9-months post-deployment. Methods Data were obtained from Army Study Assess Risk Resilience in Servicemembers Pre-Post Deployment Survey (PPDS). Soldiers included these analyses (n = 1448) completed surveys prior deployment Afghanistan, immediately after 9-month survey measures symptoms, deployment-related personality measures. Logistic regression was used examine relationships neuroticism post-deployment Results Higher independently probable post-deployment, but not . However, there significant interaction effects, those range events, higher insomnia, while lower risk. Conclusion A trait disposition negative (i.e., neuroticism) predispose individuals chronic face acute While includes it also encompasses other characteristics (e.g., self-perception) stronger predictor persistent symptoms. Service members baseline benefit pre-deployment skills trainings better cope prevent/mitigate long-term problems. Deployment and Post-Deployment Experiences in OEF/OIF Veterans: Relationship to Gray Matter Volume
BACKGROUND Combat-related PTSD has been associated with reduced gray matter volume in regions of the prefrontal and temporal cortex, hippocampus, insula, and amygdala. However, the relationship between gray matter volume and specific deployment and post-deployment experiences has not been investigated. The aim of this study was to delineate how such experiences may contribute to structural brai...
متن کاملPost-deployment Connguration Management
Connguration management must move beyond its traditional development-time concerns with source les. Future software systems will be delivered in binary form and will be composed from pre-existing systems. The term Post-Deployment Connguration Management is proposed to address the problems introduced in managing these new kinds of versioned conngurations.
متن کاملInterdomain VPLS and Deployment Experiences
The main objective of emergent standard Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS) is the interconnection of users located at different geographic locations as if they were in the same local area network. In this sense, the investigations and tests that have been done are mainly focused on point-to-point interconnection scenarios using Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), as there have been few tests done ...
متن کاملWhat pre-deployment and early post-deployment factors predict health function after combat deployment?: a prospective longitudinal study of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF)/Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) soldiers
BACKGROUND Physical and mental function are strong indicators of disability and mortality. OEF/OIF Veterans returning from deployment have been found to have poorer function than soldiers who have not deployed; however the reasons for this are unknown. METHODS A prospective cohort of 790 soldiers was assessed both pre- and immediately after deployment to determine predictors of physical and m...
متن کاملPost-combat invincibility: violent combat experiences are associated with increased risk-taking propensity following deployment.
Combat exposure is associated with increased rates of mental health problems such as post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, and anxiety when Soldiers return home. Another important health consequence of combat exposure involves the potential for increased risk-taking propensity and unsafe behavior among returning service members. Survey responses regarding 37 different combat experiences w...
